Digital Collaboration With Healthcare Professionals and Takeda Teams

September 28, 2020

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, many of us have faced both professional and personal challenges in adapting to our new reality. We have been looking beyond the science of the COVID-19 pandemic to take inspiration from our colleagues at Takeda in how they have adapted to the new normal whilst still delivering on our commitment to serve patients.

Meet Julie Cariou! Julie lives in France, has 3 children, and she thrives on human contact, participating in the creation of innovative projects, teamwork and feeling useful. In her role here at Takeda, Julie sees it as her mission to create relationships with healthcare professionals and engage with them by providing them with relevant information, making them aware of diagnostic criteria, and supporting them in the therapeutic care of their patients.

We asked Julie to answer a few questions and share how she has been adapting to the ‘new normal’ throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

How are you collaborating digitally with healthcare professionals (HCPs)?

Takeda France recently launched a new remote engagement tool, Veeva Engage, which includes a videoconference facility that allows me to optimize my touchpoints. Email and phone still work very well, but it’s different with Veeva Engage. To stay connected face-to-face, I‘ve suggested using Veeva Engage with healthcare professionals (HCPs). Those who do accept feel comfortable with computers because they’re doing remote consultations on a daily basis, they have free time and are waiting for scientific data on our treatments. For me this new tool is a great add-on to strengthen my interactions with HCPs.

What have you learned from the COVID-19 pandemic?

I’ve learned that despite the geographical distances, we can continue to stay close. This is thanks to the actions, both professional and recreational, put in place by everyone at Takeda France (WebEx, medical and administrative training, coffee machine meetings, moodboard and so on). As a mother of three children (5, 7 and 9-years-old), with a firefighter husband, it took me a while to adapt and balance my professional and personal lives. But thanks to Takeda and the flexibility they’ve given us, I’ve been able to find a good balance.
