Every day, 810 women die from obstetric complications during pregnancy, childbirth, and immediately after birth, mostly in sub-Saharan Africa, where timely (within 2 hours) access to quality emergency obstetric and newborn care (EmONC) is a challenge. Building on the countries’ national network of EmONC health facilities and leveraging advanced technologies, this program aims to save the lives of 518,100 pregnant women and 492,500 newborns by reducing the time to seek care, to access services, and to get quality care.
