Over 1.5 billion people worldwide are affected by Neglected Tropical Disease (NTD) even though early prevention and treatment are available.  Many hard-to-reach communities of the Pacific islands remain at high risk for NTD infections and carry a disproportionate burden of these diseases. This partnership helps decrease the burden and removes the need for any large-scale interventions against NTDs in the future by eliminating and controlling targeted NTDs (lymphatic filariasis, yaws, leprosy, trachoma, scabies and soil-transmitted helminthiases).
